Soros-Backed Dems Propose Orwellian Comprehensive Gun Control Bill
— Jacob Tyler —
In a move of legislative sleight-of-hand, Democrats in both the Senate and the House of Representatives have introduced a sweeping new bill aimed at regulating semi-automatic firearms.
The Gas-Operated Semi-Automatic Firearms Exclusion Act, or GOSAFE Act, is spearheaded by U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-NM) and U.S. Representative Lucy McBath (D-GA). The bill proposes the imposition of broad restrictions on firearms, specifically targeting semi-automatic pistols, rifles, and shotguns that utilize gas-operated mechanisms for cycling actions during reloading.
This distinguishes it from previous attempts at “assault weapon" bans, which typically specify particular models. The GOSAFE Act takes a broader approach by banning various types of firearms based on their mechanical operation, effectively limiting those equipped with detachable magazines.
Many in the gun community are already sounding the alarm that this is a direct attack on the 2nd Amendment. But the Orwellian double-speak that characterizes the name of a bill that would effectively retrograde the armories of law-abiding citizens to WWI era weaponry; thereby rendering Americans woefully ill-equipped to face enemies (foreign or domestic) in open combat is the epitome of adding insult to injury.
Indeed if one recognizes that the 2nd Amendment is about keeping tyrannical government in check and defending against invaders far more than it is about hunting and recreational shooting, it is hard to ascertain how exactly the "Go Safe" act is safe for anyone other than those who desire to conquer and enslave a people. An earlier version of the Bill was introduced and defeated in 2021, which aimed to implement comprehensive "gun safety measures," including universal background checks and measures to promote safe storage of firearms.
Key Provisions of the Act
The GOSAFE Act proposes significant restrictions on firearms employing gas piston systems, direct impingement actions, blowback mechanisms, or recoil-operated systems that accept detachable magazines. Exceptions are included for firearms chambered in .22 rimfire or less, as well as shotguns and rifles with permanently fixed magazines of 10 rounds or fewer.
Handguns are also exempt if they feature a permanently fixed magazine limited to 15 rounds. The alleged intent behind these provisions is to address media-fueled concerns regarding the potential lethality of semi-automatic firearms while still allowing Americans to retain rights to firearms used for self-defense, hunting, and sporting purposes.
Historical Context
In assessing the merits or demerits of this proposed bill, it behooves a candid world to consider the broader gun control agenda that this is bill is merely the latest effort to advance within the broader historical context of efforts by various governmental leaders, particularly those on the political left, to impose gun control measures on their populations.
Countless dictators and authoritarian regimes throughout history have not merely emphasized how central gun control is to the concentration of power, but have enacted sweeping policies effecting disarmament of the public. The historical significance of these incontrovertible facts cannot be overlooked, especially as Americans consider this new legislative proposal that seems to echo these authoritarian principles.
Incidents like Waco and Ruby Ridge still burn bright in the public consciousness, (to name just a few) and as case histories are no small cause for concern illustrating a dynamic in which even with the protections afforded to the people by 2A, here in the land of the free and home of the brave, your government might just use tanks and tear gas to burn your church down with you and your children inside, or gun down your wife, your son and your little dog too in the name of "public safety."
Support and Sponsorship
The GOSAFE Act has received endorsements from various gun control organizations, including March For Our Lives, the Brady Campaign, Sandy Hook Promise, Everytown for Gun Safety, and Giffords. In the Senate, the bill is designated as S.1370 and has garnered support from 13 co-sponsors, all Democrats or Independents who align with them. The House counterpart, H.R.2790, has been referred to the Committee on the Judiciary and includes 26 bipartisan co-sponsors.
The Elephant In the Room
From a traditionalist and constitutional purist perspective, proponents of measures like the GOSAFE Act are skating on thin ice. The right to keep and bear arms is imperative to the safety and security of the Republic; thus, any attempt to disarm the population not only contravenes the Second Amendment but threatens the very foundation of American liberty. History has shown that government overreach—including but hardly limited to incidents like Waco and Ruby Ridge—can escalate sharply under the guise of regulation, adding additional layers of nuance to the whole matter.
Following the Money
Numerous gun control advocacy groups, such as Everytown for Gun Safety and the Brady Campaign, receive substantial funding not from billionaire globalist operators like George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The influence of figures such as these, among others, is closely tied to the push for gun control most recently including the GOSAFE Act. Both billionaires have a well-documented track record of funding organizations that advocate for stricter gun regulations and have been known to lock arms with a rogue's gallery of Communist revolutionary movements, including terrorist activism groups like ANTIFA.
A Hegelian Dialectic dynamic, is easily discernible here, where conflicts between opposing views on gun rights and regulation are leveraged to push for policies aligned with their globalist agenda
Criticism and Opposition
The GOSAFE Act is already facing considerable opposition. A quick Google search reveals that virtually the entire firearms community is coming together in vehement opposition to this leglislation.
The National Rifle Association, a leading voice in the gun rights movement, is arguing that it infringes upon 2A rights. The NRA has mobilized its membership and is emphasizing that disarming law-abiding citizens does not address the root causes of gun violence.
Gun Owners of America also strongly opposes the GOSAFE Act, stating that it promotes unnecessary restrictions on responsible gun ownership. The GOA argues that such legislation would not effectively prevent crime and instead penalizes law-abiding gun owners. Conservative government officials such as Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Lauren Boebert have spoken out against GOSAFE as well, blasting it as a clear overreach that threatens individual liberties—with both emphasizing the need to uphold the Second Amendment as a safeguard against government tyranny.
Substance Over Form
The GOSAFE Act and similar gun control efforts are relentlessly framed by the left as an earnest response to the problem of unchecked gun violence. But for all of the efforts to convince the public that the problem is guns themselves and not the people who use them, the simple truth of the matter is that gun control in any comprehensive fashion is a proposition that is not only wholly un-American and unconstitutional but fundamentally contradicts the founding principles of the United States.
It is an incontrovertible fact that restricting access to weaponry of any caliber and potency undermines 2A rights. Any Legislative Initiatives that foists such a dynamic upon the people is anathema to the core values of any free society, and arguably borders on being outright treasonous—whether by outcome or intent—by impeding the ability of the people to effectively defend their families, lives, and property, from well armed threats both foreign and domestic. Be they criminal gangs, an invading army or a power-hungry government.
As the discourse surrounding gun control continues, we find ourselves in a pivotal crossroads moment here in the United States. It will prove to be a critical test for the Trump administration, which has framed itself as a bastion of conservative values and "America First" principles. The administration's response to this latest legislative sacrilege will be indicative of its dedication to upholding Second Amendment rights, a cornerstone of American civil liberties. Historically, the Republican Party has championed gun ownership rights, yet recent instances of bipartisan cooperation on gun control and the RINO menace in general may complicate this tradition and pose challenges for the Trump administration’s political strategy moving forward.
Stakeholders on all sides will be closely monitoring the legislative process in the coming weeks as the bill faces further scrutiny, debate, and push-back.
